Certified Medical Board Licensing Specialist (CMBLS) Program
The course consists of 9 sessions, with the first 8 being online modules. The online modules are anticipated to run for two hours. The final session is an in-person seminar. Participants need to attend all sessions. In addition, participants will be expected to complete some work between sessions (1 to 2 hours per month). Missing more than one session or not completing the extra work will result in the participant not being invited to the final session.
Executive Directors can nominate a member of their staff for participation by sending an email to aim@docboard.org. Recommendations should include:
- The name of the licensing specialist;
- The email address and phone number of the specialist;
- The length of time the licensing specialist has been in the position;
- Confirmation that the licensing specialist will have time and support to complete the sessions and extra work; and
- Confirmation that your Board will allow the licensing specialist to travel to the in-person event and will cover the travel costs.
Participants will be selected to give the group a wide range of diversity in geography and board size.
2027 Program
This CMBLS session will start in January 2027 and nominations from executive directors are now being accepted.
The program will be limited to 24 participants to encourage participation and collaboration. It will culminate in participants earning a certificate as a Medical Board Licensing Specialist.
The online modules are anticipated to run for two hours; the third Tuesday of each month starting in January 2027. The final session will be an in-person seminar in September 2027 in Bozeman, Montana. Participants need to attend all sessions and will be expected to complete some work between sessions (1 to 2 hours per month).
Executive Directors of active AIM member States can nominate a member of their staff for participation by sending an email to aim@docboard.org. Nominations should be submitted by November 30, 2026. Recommendations should include the information stated in the above list.
Participants will be selected to give the group a wide range of diversity in geography and board size. At the beginning of December those invited to participate will receive a personalized invitation with their first assignment and instructions for attending the sessions.
There will be a $250 registration fee for each participant. Invoices for registration will be provided after the selection of candidates is complete.
